January meeting – Chinese Wilson and Birmingham Botanic Gardens


Our speaker on 5th January is Simon Gulliver who will be talking to us about Chinese Wilson (in middle of above photo) and his influence on the Birmingham Botanic Gardens.

Simon is Gardens & Parks Consultant for the North West Region of the National Trust. He worked for Birmingham Botanic Gardens for 10 years, the final few of which were as Plant Collections Manager. Prior to this he worked for Plant Heritage, based at RHS Wisley responsible for the National Plant Collections Simon studied at Pershore College and Edinburgh Botanical Gardens and is currently studying for an MSc in Historic Landscape Management at Bath University.

The talk will commence at 7:30pm with complimentary refreshments available from 7:00pm.

Don’t forget annual membership fees of £12 are due and Committee members will be available to collect these and provide you with the programme for 2015.  Visitors are always welcome to meetings – we charge £4 per visit).
