February Meeting – The Creation of Great Dixter and the Life of Christopher Lloyd


Our talk on the 3rd February is by Stephen Anderton on The Creation of Great Dixter and the Life of Christopher Lloyd.

Stephen Anderton is an award-winning journalist, author, broadcaster and lecturer, both in the UK and abroad. Stephen has written and contributed to a number of books about gardens, including Christopher Lloyd: His Life at Great Dixter, the revealing biography of the gloriously eccentric gardener and writer, Christopher Lloyd (‘Christo’), who created the garden at Dixter in East Sussex. He has also presented the ITV television series Britain’s Best Back Gardens in 2003 and 2004, and is the gardening correspondent of The Times.

The talk starts at 7:30pm and free refreshments are available from 7:00pm so come early to catch up on news and make new friends. The talk is free to members and visitors pay £4.


January meeting – Design and The Garden


We start the year off on the evening of the 6th January with a talk by Paul Hervey-Brookes.

Paul is a garden designer and has won gold medals at Chelsea and Hampton Court flower shows although his first show garden was at the Malvern Autumn show in 2008. He has also created show gardens internationally at the Japanese Gardening World Cup and Ellerslie International Flower show in New Zealand. Since 2011 Paul has been an RHS trials judge and is mentoring the RHS Young Designer of the Year finalists in 2014.

As ever the meeting commences at 7:30 but refreshments are available from 7:00 so plenty of time to catch up with friends old and new before the talk
